Jamie-Leigh's Bhats
My uncle went to Thailand and brought back 80 Thai Bhat and he gave it to me. I remembered that Ms Laing was going to Thailand and i thought i should give it to HleBee school as a present so i've put it into an envelope and wrote a letter to HleBee and Ms Laing will bring it in July. by Jamie Leigh

A print from Thailand
From a Forthview child
In P5, P6 and P7 all the students at Forthview Primary School done etchings of the area with sharp pointers on a plastic type of material. I think it was a good thing for the students to do because it is a different type of art for them to experience. The head teacher Sheila Laing has arranged to go to Thailand on the summer holidays to see what the children of Burmese migrants learn like and what they think about being in contact with the children at Forthvew Primary School. Everyone in the classes enjoyed the experience with Chris because it was good fun. Here is one of my etchings. By Owen French

Planning with Nan Lung
On Saturday 3 March 07, armed with maps of Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Thailand and with 32 questions to ask, Sheila and Geoff took the train from Dunbar to Newcastle to meet Ms Nan Lung, who is Program Director of the Teacher Training Centre for Burmese Teachers. (www.educationburma.net). Nan is currently studying at Newcastle University.
Nan knows Thezin, Headteacher of Hle Bee School and spent 4 hrs helping us plan the itinerary for our trip, think about how to get there and where to stay. She is a very gracious and clever person and it was a joy to meet her. She is going to visit Forthview Primary School in August 2007 and we look forward to welcoming her to Forthview.
Our itinerary is going to be:
5 July Edinburgh to London to Bangkok
6 July Bangkok
8 July Hle Bee School, Mae Sot
14 July Chiang Mai
18 July Sightseeing around Bangkok
21 July Bangkok to London
22 July London to Edinburgh
