Lost in Mae Sot... 11pm Monday night...

After a delightful meal with friends at the fabulous Casa Mia restaurant, we accompanied our Burmese friend past our hotel down the road some way, left then left again. This was to make sure he got home safely. Mae Sot is not always a safe place for Burmese later than 9pm. 'Do you know how to get back?' 'Yes,' we replied with misplaced confidence! So off we set down dark and deserted streets.
'We go this way, Geoff.'
'No, we cycled much further than this before we turned.'
'We never past this creepy place, we never past this deserted building.'
Then Sheila's mobile rang. It's Mary Gillespie, HT of Pirniehall Primary in Edinburgh! (www.pirniehall.blogspot.com). She was phoning to tell us they are all packed and ready to set off for Mae Sot very early Tuesday morning. 'Well it's now 11pm, Mary and we are lost in Mae Sot!'
So this is really just to let Mary and everybody else know that we did eventually find our way safely back to the hotel and yes - Sheila was right! Night night!

I did not visit the blog for two days and what a whole load of catching up to read. Those basins look fantastic in their wrappers and will be even more so when installed ( bet they already are...) It is so good to see such immediate rewards from the efforts of the children, community and staff in Forthview being translated to concrete outcomes. Can we please have some plumbers from Mae Sot here in Scotland...we might have high quality work at a reasonable price- surely a win win for all.

Glad to see you did not get lost...I am sure you will be looking forward to Fiona and Louise arriving.

Bye for now from a muggy Edinburgh.

Great to hear from you. I wondered where you were. How did Kat's graduation go? There is always plenty to write about! And there's 11 days still to go! I hope you are having a quieter time with work and study Rowena. How's Sue? Sheila
